Leeds University Union Launches Strategy Survey for Students
October 20, 2025Students invited to help shape union priorities for 2026-2030
Leeds University Union (LUU) has announced the launch of its Strategy Survey, inviting students to contribute their views and ideas to help shape the organisation’s priorities and plans for the next four years. The survey opens on Monday 20 October and aims to gather input from a wide range of students, including those from underrepresented and minority groups.
Purpose of the Strategy Survey
Every four years, LUU reviews and updates its organisational strategy, which outlines the union’s vision, goals, and values for the coming period. The current survey will inform the strategy covering 2026 to 2030, ensuring that the union’s activities and support services align with student needs and aspirations.
LUU emphasises that the student voice is central to its work and decision-making processes. The survey provides an opportunity for students to share their experiences, suggest new ideas, and raise concerns that can influence the union’s future direction.
Previous Impact of Student Feedback
The union highlighted several initiatives that have been developed based on student input in recent years, including:
- Essentials: A basic needs hub offering free essential goods to support students during the cost-of-living crisis.
- Crossroads: A social space dedicated to gaming, both offline and online, created in response to student demand for safe community areas.
- PGR Lounge: A quiet study and meeting space specifically for Postgraduate Research students.
- Free Sanitary Products: Sustainable period and health products made freely available across the union.
- Free Drug Testing Kits: Kits provided at the Advice Office to help students feel safer at union bars and venues.
- 24-Hour Libraries: Extended library opening hours to support exam preparation and study outside regular times.
- Plus Programme Funding: Financial support to make clubs and societies more accessible to students from lower-income households.

To encourage participation, LUU is offering a prize draw with a total value exceeding £4,000. Prizes include:
- MacBook Air laptops
- iPads
- One-year Spotify Premium subscriptions
