Trident Leagues Delay Kick-Offs to Support 3UP Campaign

Football clubs across multiple leagues unite to back additional promotion place

On Saturday 15th November 2025, all fixtures in the Trident Leagues—the Isthmian League, Northern Premier League, and Southern League—will have their kick-off times delayed to 3.03pm. This coordinated change is in support of the National League’s 3UP Day of Action, a campaign advocating for a third promotion place from Step 1 of the National League System into the English Football League (EFL).

Scope of the action

The adjustment affects 104 matches involving 208 teams across 12 divisions. Among these fixtures is Guiseley AFC’s home game against Cleethorpes Town. By synchronising kick-off times, the leagues aim to demonstrate solidarity with the National League’s campaign, which has garnered backing from all 72 National League clubs and reportedly 93% of supporters throughout the football pyramid.

Purpose of the 3UP campaign

The 3UP campaign calls for the introduction of an additional promotion spot from the National League to the EFL. Supporters of the campaign argue that this change would benefit the entire National League System by providing more opportunities for clubs to progress into the professional tiers of English football.

• The Trident Leagues released a joint statement expressing full support for the 3UP campaign and emphasised the importance of the additional promotion place for the future of the National League Pyramid.
• Phil Alexander, interim CEO of the National League, highlighted the significance of the Trident Leagues’ backing, describing it as a powerful gesture that unites 232 clubs and their communities across the country in pursuit of the campaign’s goals.

Alexander stated: “Together we can Put Football First.”

Following the 3UP Day of Action, Guiseley AFC is scheduled to play away at Whitby Town in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division on Friday 8th November 2025, with a 3.00pm kick-off.
