Longstanding Partnership with Leeds Community Foundation

Hanif Malik OBE, Foundation Director at Park Lane Foundation, has maintained a close relationship with Leeds Community Foundation over many years. His involvement has spanned various roles, including being a grant recipient, a trustee, and currently a supporter through his position at Park Lane Foundation. Malik first met Sally Anne Greenfield, the initial CEO of Leeds Community Foundation, in 2005, marking the early stages of the foundation’s development.

Commitment to Local Communities

Supporting local communities is a central focus for both Hanif Malik and the Park Lane Foundation. Malik has observed how inequality can restrict opportunities and aspirations, but he has also noted the resilience, talent, and generosity present within Leeds communities. He emphasises that investing in local people helps to strengthen communities and contributes to the social fabric of the city as a whole.

Perspectives on Leeds

Born and raised in Leeds, Malik describes the city as diverse, welcoming, and community-oriented. Despite economic challenges, he highlights Leeds’s ambitions and its commitment to creating more equitable communities. Malik also made a light-hearted comment about the importance of Leeds United Football Club maintaining its status in the Premiership.

Encouraging Support for Leeds Community Foundation

Malik advises individuals, businesses, and other foundations considering support for Leeds Community Foundation to take action, regardless of the size of their contribution. He stresses that the foundation has a deep understanding of the city’s needs and the grassroots organisations effecting change. Contributions are directed to areas where they can have a measurable impact, and every partnership aids the foundation’s work.
