Leeds Food Growing Awards Open for Nominations

Recognising local efforts in food growing and sustainability

Residents of Leeds are invited to nominate individuals and projects that contribute to local food growing initiatives. The nominations are for the Feed Leeds Food Growing Awards 2026, which aim to acknowledge those making a positive impact on food sustainability and community involvement across the city.

Award Categories

Nominations can be made in five categories, with no limit on the number of entries per person or project. The categories are as follows:

  • Inspiring Young or School Gardener – Recognising young people up to around 25 years old who are actively involved in gardening and food growing.
  • Outstanding Community Champion – Celebrating individuals who have made significant contributions to their local community through food growing activities.
  • Growing Community Through Community Food Growing – Highlighting projects or enterprises that support community sustainability and resilience by encouraging food growing. This may include community orchards, initiatives supplying fresh produce to food banks or community kitchens, or projects teaching composting skills.
  • Leading Business Supporting Local Food Growing Enterprises – Acknowledging local businesses such as retailers, caterers, cafes, and restaurants that support local food growing enterprises and contribute to the local food network.
  • Super Community Composting Initiative – Recognising groups involved in community composting efforts that reduce carbon emissions and enrich soil quality. These groups may be based in schools, community gardens, or neighbourhoods.

Event Details and Nomination Deadline

The winners will be announced at the Feed Leeds Annual General Meeting (AGM) Celebration, scheduled for Monday 9 February 2026. The event will take place at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, with doors opening at 5:30pm. The awards presentation is planned for 6pm, followed by a shared meal at 7:15pm and networking opportunities.
