Guiseley face in-form Hebburn Town in Northern Premier League clash

Guiseley AFC will travel north this weekend to face Hebburn Town in a Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division fixture. The match comes after Guiseley’s first defeat under manager Ian Richards, who is aiming to guide the team back to winning ways.

Recent Form and Team News

Guiseley suffered a 2-0 defeat to Prescot Cables last Saturday, marking the first loss since Ian Richards took charge. Richards acknowledged that while the team showed effort, particularly in the second half, the overall quality and attacking intent were insufficient. An own goal in the second half was a decisive moment in the game.

Looking ahead to the match against Hebburn Town, Richards emphasised the need for the squad to focus on their own performance and maintain concentration throughout the game.

In terms of player availability, Jake Lawlor has been training individually and may return to contention this weekend. Jack Emmett is expected to be available after a recent family addition. However, Sam Bentley has experienced a minor injury setback and is unlikely to feature.

Hebburn Town’s Current Standing

Hebburn Town have been one of the standout teams this season, climbing the league table with a strong run of form. Following a 2-1 victory over local rivals Morpeth, they sit just two points behind league leaders Hednesford.

The Hornets enjoyed a perfect record in November with six wins from six matches, earning manager Daniel Moore the Northern Premier League Manager of the Month award. The team has maintained momentum into December, securing two wins in as many games and extending their winning streak to eight matches.

Hebburn Town are the highest scorers in the league, having netted 45 goals in 21 matches. Veteran striker Gary Martin leads the scoring charts with 14 goals. Other contributors include Olly Martin and Ethan Wood with five goals each, and loanee Campbell Darcy from Hartlepool adding three.

Previous Meetings

  • Last season marked the first meetings between the two clubs, with Guiseley winning both matches 2-0 and 1-0, the latter on Tyneside.
  • Earlier this season, Guiseley secured a 4-0 home victory in August, highlighted by a Jordan Thewlis hat-trick and a Taylor Bowen penalty.
