Funding available for grassroots organisations across England

A new round of grassroots grants is now open, offering financial support to small community organisations. The funding is provided through a programme enabled by contributions from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery and is distributed via several trusts including Postcode Local Trust, Postcode Places Trust, Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, and Postcode Society Trust.

Key details of the grant programme

  • Applications are accepted anytime between January and September, allowing organisations to apply when it suits them best.
  • Eligible applicants are organisations with an income of up to £25,000 in the last financial year.
  • Decisions on applications are provided within 10 weeks of submission.
  • Successful applicants can receive grants of up to £2,000.
  • Grants must be spent within 12 months of being awarded.
  • The programme excludes funding for sports or physical activity-based projects; alternative funding options are outlined in the guidance notes.

Priority areas for funding

The programme prioritises funding for:

  • Communities ranked within the top 15% on the English Indices of Deprivation.
  • Organisations that work with and support marginalised or vulnerable communities.
