Perspectives on apprenticeships
Rosie, aged 25, who recently completed a solicitor apprenticeship, shared her experience of finding an alternative to university education. After attending university for two months, she decided that traditional learning was not suitable for her and sought hands-on experience through an apprenticeship.
She commented on the lack of awareness about apprenticeships during her school years and highlighted the benefits of practical learning in her chosen career path.
Council statement
Councillor Jonathan Pryor, deputy leader of Leeds City Council and executive member for economy, transport and sustainable development, emphasised the value of apprenticeships as a direct route into various careers. He noted that the city’s growth is reflected in the increasing size of the apprenticeship fair, which attracts more employers and visitors each year.
He encouraged anyone interested in apprenticeships to attend the event and engage with employers and current apprentices.
