New initiative invites local groups to bid for funding

The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, has announced the launch of The People’s Fund, a new scheme aimed at addressing serious violence across the region. The fund offers local groups and organisations the opportunity to apply for financial support to develop community-led solutions.

Funding details and application process

The People’s Fund has a total budget of £500,000, with up to £100,000 allocated to each district within West Yorkshire. Local groups and organisations can submit bids for amounts up to £10,000 to support projects they believe will have the greatest impact on reducing serious violence in their communities.

Decisions on which projects will receive funding will be made by local residents, ensuring that the initiatives supported reflect the priorities of the communities they serve.

Key dates and how to apply

  • The application window for The People’s Fund closes at midnight on Friday 6th February 2026.
  • Interested groups are required to complete an Expression of Interest form as part of the application process.
  • Further information, including the application form and an information sheet, is available on the Doing Good Leeds website.

The People’s Fund forms part of Mayor Tracy Brabin’s wider strategy to co-produce a serious violence reduction plan for West Yorkshire, involving local communities in the development and implementation of solutions.
