New Support Spaces Launched in Memory of Charlotte
February 10, 2026Creating calm environments for families in hospitals
Leeds Hospitals Charity has introduced a new initiative called Charlotte’s Rooms, designed to provide calm and supportive spaces within hospitals for families facing difficult times. The project aims to offer practical and compassionate support to families while also assisting hospital staff in their essential roles.
Background of Charlotte’s Rooms
The initiative is named in memory of Charlotte, who tragically passed away in October 2023. At 39 weeks pregnant, Charlotte suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. Her baby, Olivia, was delivered safely and is cared for by her older sisters, Alice and Ada. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Charlotte died five days later surrounded by her family.
Charlotte was remembered as a loving mother, fiancée, daughter, sister, and friend. During her stay in intensive care, the hospital staff not only provided excellent medical care to Charlotte but also offered significant emotional support to her family.
Purpose and Impact of Charlotte’s Rooms
The rooms are intended to create a tranquil environment where families can find comfort and support during challenging hospital stays. By providing these spaces, Leeds Hospitals Charity hopes to ease the emotional burden on families and support hospital staff in delivering compassionate care.
Ongoing Support and Fundraising
- Funds raised in Charlotte’s memory contribute to the development and maintenance of these supportive spaces.
- The charity continues to encourage donations to expand support for families experiencing similar situations.
