Free Training Available to Support Clients with Energy Costs

The Yorkshire Energy Doctor’s Community Energy Ambassadors project has received confirmed funding for a seventh year, allowing it to continue offering support and training related to energy costs. This initiative aims to equip individuals working with communities to better assist clients facing challenges with rising energy prices.
Training course details
The project provides a free, CPD-certified training course consisting of three sessions, each lasting 1.5 hours. The course covers a range of topics designed to improve understanding and advice around energy use and costs, including:
- Current energy prices and tariffs
- Advice to give clients on managing energy consumption
- Understanding the energy use and costs of household appliances
- Methods to save energy in the home
- Information about smart meters and energy efficiency
- Details of available schemes to support households with energy costs
Additional resources and support
Participants in the project also gain access to a portal containing various resources such as information sheets, social media content, and advice checklists that can be used with clients or within local communities. They receive a monthly Energy Ambassadors newsletter with updates on energy issues and support schemes, as well as invitations to online update events held two to three times per year. Yorkshire Energy Doctor offers ongoing contact for assistance with specific problems encountered.
Eligibility and cost
The training and resources are provided free of charge to anyone living or working in Yorkshire, the Northeast, or Cumbria. This is made possible through funding from Northern Gas Networks.
