Leeds College of Building (LCB) has received 13 nominations across ten categories in the upcoming West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards, highlighting the achievements of apprentices, employers, and training providers in the region.
Details of the nominations
The West Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards, now in their fourth year since being established in 2022 by the Yorkshire Evening Post, celebrate excellence in various sectors including construction, engineering, law, and more.
LCB’s nominations include:
- Best Training Provider Award
- Large Employer of the Year Award – in partnership with Bagnalls
- Mentor of the Year – Andy Holt from Bagnalls
- Intermediate Apprentice Award – Faith Loynes
- Advanced Apprentice Award – Gurman Dev (WSP)
- Degree Apprentice Award – Tom Butler (CML Civil Engineering)
- Construction Apprentice Award – Martin Barlow (South West Yorkshire Partnership Teaching NHS Foundation Trust) and Martyn Priestley (Bradford Council)
- Higher Apprenticeship Award – Jack Peacock (Wates Group) and William Sykes (East Riding Council)
- Technology and Digital Apprentice Award – Caleb Graham (Systra)
- Engineering / Manufacturing Apprentice Award – Farhan Miah (Arup) and Joe Rhodes (ITV)

Michael Martin, Curriculum Manager of Construction Crafts at LCB, expressed satisfaction at the number of nominations received. He said the recognition reflects the quality and breadth of apprenticeship education offered by the college. He also congratulated the nominated apprentices and looked forward to celebrating their achievements at the awards ceremony.
