Community Action Microgrants Now Open in Leeds

The Community Action Microgrants programme, established in memory of Louie Ward Herbert, has opened for applications. The grants are intended to support citizen-led projects and community development initiatives that promote equality, inclusion, and community cohesion within Leeds.
Grant details and eligibility
The programme focuses on newer and smaller community groups and organisations, particularly those that are under-represented in funding opportunities. Priority will be given to groups established within the last five years. Key details include:
- Grants of up to £500 are available for informal, unconstituted groups.
- Grants of up to £2,500 are available for formally constituted organisations.
- Eligible organisations must have an income under £75,000 in their most recent financial year.
- Activities must be based in Leeds, and applicants must be based in or have a demonstrable connection to Leeds communities.
- Only one application per organisation or group will be considered per funding round.
Focus areas for funding
The grants aim to support a range of community activities, including but not limited to:
- Promoting equality, equity, and inclusion.
- Directly supporting disadvantaged groups.
- Working to reduce poverty.
- Increasing connections between people at a neighbourhood level.
- One-off projects or extensions of existing work that build on community assets and skills to achieve shared benefits.
The programme welcomes a wide variety of activities and approaches, recognising that local groups are best placed to identify the needs of their communities.
