Funding Available for Nature-Themed Cultural Projects in Leeds

A new funding initiative, supported by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, is inviting applications for one-off creative projects in Leeds that focus on nature and encourage community engagement with green and blue spaces. The Seasons of Culture 2026 Funding Programme seeks to promote artistic activities that highlight the natural environment and support themes such as active travel and nature recovery.
Focus and themes of the programme
The 2026 theme for the programme is “Nature.” Projects applying for funding should demonstrate a clear connection to this theme, whether through their artistic content, location, or intended outcomes. Eligible projects might include those that:
- Encourage active travel such as walking, cycling, or the use of public transport
- Engage communities in nature recovery efforts
- Deliver creative work in outdoor green or blue spaces, including parks, riversides, and nature reserves
Types of activities supported
The programme supports a range of nature-related cultural activities, including but not limited to:
- Nature-themed performances, exhibitions, and participatory events held in outdoor green or blue spaces
- Projects that use arts and culture to protect nature and biodiversity
- Environmental storytelling that helps communities connect with local natural spaces
- Initiatives that inspire active travel such as walking, cycling, or public transport use
Funding details and application process
