Leeds University Union Launches Passport to Culture Campaign
April 30, 2026New initiative highlights international students’ cultural contributions
Leeds University Union has introduced a new campaign called “A Passport to Culture,” designed to recognise and celebrate the cultural contributions of international and postgraduate students at the University of Leeds. The campaign aims to foster a sense of belonging and promote cultural inclusivity within the university and the wider Leeds community.
Campaign objectives and activities
The Passport to Culture campaign encourages students to adopt a “We Are Global” mindset, emphasising the diverse cultural identities present on campus and beyond. Through a series of hands-on activities, collaborative public art projects, storytelling, and city-wide engagement, the initiative seeks to provide international students with opportunities to express their identities in inclusive public spaces.
Participants are expected to develop skills in collaboration, intercultural communication, and creative production, while gaining visibility and a stronger sense of community.
The Cultural Collective partnership
The campaign forms part of a larger collaboration known as The Cultural Collective, which involves Leeds University Union, Liverpool Guild of Students, and Sheffield Student Union. Each organisation is hosting its own campaign to celebrate and recognise the benefits of international student communities.
Starting in March 2026, each organisation will host key events open to members from the other unions, encouraging cross-city participation and cultural exchange.
