Introducing Tony and His Role at Season Well

Tony, a volunteer at Season Well, has been contributing to the community through cooking and teaching at Chapel FM. Initially working part-time for Chapel FM, Tony became involved with Season Well when the Feed Yourself Well initiative began using the venue. He started helping in the kitchen and soon found himself regularly involved in preparing meals and sharing cooking skills.

Using Fresh, Locally Grown Ingredients

Season Well focuses on using fresh, seasonal, and sustainable ingredients. Tony highlights the advantage of having access to a garden at Chapel FM, where they can pick fresh produce such as peas and herbs to use immediately in their recipes. This approach supports the project’s aim to promote local and sustainable food practices.

Cooking and Teaching Activities

Tony and the team develop their own recipes, experimenting with various dishes. Some of the more unusual meals they have prepared include rhubarb curry, while a vegetarian paella has been noted as a favourite. Through these activities, Tony not only cooks but also teaches others, passing on his skills and knowledge.

Personal Benefits of Volunteering

Although officially retired due to ill health, Tony finds volunteering with Season Well beneficial for his wellbeing. He appreciates the opportunity to get out of the house, meet people, and contribute to the community. Tony describes the experience as rewarding, emphasising the value of helping others and sharing his expertise.
