Leeds Community Foundation appoints Alice Liley to Partnerships team

Leeds Community Foundation has announced the appointment of Alice Liley as its new Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager. The addition strengthens the Foundation’s Partnerships team, which already includes Hannah Buckley in a similar role. Alice Liley will focus on developing and managing relationships with professional advisers, major donors, and corporate partners throughout Leeds.

Background and experience

Alice Liley brings extensive experience in relationship management, sponsorship, and fundraising. Her previous roles include work with Jane Tomlinson’s Run for All and Leeds Hospitals Charity. Notably, she contributed to raising £7 million for the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Her career has involved engaging with a diverse range of people, both in formal settings and community events, which aligns with the Foundation’s focus on local engagement and support.

Commitment to Leeds communities

Alice moved to Leeds from Kent for university and has since developed a strong connection with the city. She commented on her motivation for joining the Foundation:

“I’ve always loved Leeds. When I moved here from Kent for university, I realised how nice the people are, how varied and diverse the city is, and how passionate our communities are about making change. Ten years later, I’m proud to join Leeds Community Foundation and take a real place-based approach to making a difference on our doorstep.”

Role and objectives

In her new position, Alice will steward existing donor and partner relationships while supporting new businesses and individuals interested in philanthropy. The overall aim is to invest in local communities and contribute to making Leeds a fairer place.

Reflecting on her early experiences with the Foundation, Alice highlighted a Community Engagement Event she attended shortly after starting:

“On my second day I was lucky to attend our Community Engagement Event – a bus trip around the city visiting three organisations the Foundation has supported. It was such an incredible way to fully immerse myself in the values of the charity, and see first-hand the change actually happening on the ground. It was also a great opportunity to meet some of the Foundation’s donors and partners. Talking to them, I could see the trust and understanding they have that the Foundation knows what’s happening in communities, and can manage their donations effectively and with the most impact.”
