The fund has been established in memory of Hannah Corne, a former colleague known for her commitment to community engagement and her passion for the outdoors. The initiative seeks to continue her legacy by supporting projects that contribute to greener and more hopeful futures within Leeds communities.

Eligibility and focus

Applications are welcomed from small, constituted groups and registered community organisations based in Leeds, with an income under £150,000 in the previous financial year. The fund particularly encourages applications from or benefiting under-represented groups, including:

LGBTQIA+ individuals
Racially minoritised communities
d/Deaf or disabled people

Projects must be practical, inclusive, and rooted in local neighbourhoods. They should focus on nature-friendly activities that support environmental goals, such as carbon reduction.

Examples of fundable activities

While applicants are encouraged to identify the needs of their own communities, the fund highlights several examples of suitable projects, including:

Guided nature walks or outdoor wellbeing activities aimed at reducing barriers for vulnerable community members
Community running or walking groups
Sustainable travel initiatives like bike repair sessions or cycle confidence training
Local efforts to increase access to green spaces and reduce carbon emissions
Repair, reduce, reuse, and recycle programmes
Feasibility studies for green energy options in community buildings or assets

Grant size: up to £2,000
Project duration: up to one year
Application deadline: 28 September 2026 at 12 noon
Decisions expected: December 2026
Applicants may only submit one application per organisation
Requested funding must cover at least 50% of the total project cost
