Work Experience Week for Care Experienced Young People

A new initiative is offering care experienced young people the chance to explore different career paths through a supported work experience programme taking place from 19 to 23 October 2026. The programme aims to provide participants with practical insight into the world of work across a range of sectors.

The work experience week will involve visits to several workplaces, including:
- Leeds Building Society – Finance and Professional Services
- Mott MacDonald – Engineering
- Balfour Beatty – Construction
- DLA Piper and Addleshaw Goddard – Law
- CGI – IT and Technology
Programme activities and benefits
Participants will visit a different workplace each day as part of a supported group, gaining exposure to various careers and hearing from professionals about their own career journeys. The programme is designed to help young people develop key employability skills such as confidence, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
