“Forget Me Not has always been there for me” – Hollie Shaw rallies fun-runners for Forget Me Not Colour Run
May 19, 2026On Saturday 13th June, Forget Me Not’s popular and family-friendly Colour Run is back at Greenhead Park in Huddersfield. And one young person who’s been supported by the charity “since the year dot”, is keen to encourage others to take part.
Hollie Shaw, 22, from Greetland in Calderdale, has been supported by Forget Me Not since 2011, when its hospice, Russell House, first opened. She was born with epidermolysis bullosa, a rare genetic condition that makes skin so fragile that it can tear or blister at the slightest touch. In recent years Hollie has played a leading role in raising awareness and funds for the charity, including speaking from the stage at the 2025 Colour Run – the first Forget Me Not young person to do so. She also took part in the fun run, raising £1,165 for the charity.
Hollie said: “I’ve been supported by Forget Me Not since the year dot and if there’s one thing I know, it’s that the team give their all to help families like mine. During challenging times, the hospice staff has always been there for me. They’ve helped me to manage my pain and are available for emergencies and offer much-needed respite for both me and my family.”
“Now I take every chance I get to give something back and speak on behalf of all the children and young people and families supported by Forget Me Not. They’ve helped me and my family massively and I want to give something back – to make a big impact for them. That’s why I’d love people to take part in the Colour Run this year – every penny raised will help more children and young people like me get the support they need. It’s also lots of fun and very, very colourful!”
Stephanie Parker, Director of Fundraising and Engagement at Forget Me Not, said:
“Our Colour Run is an incredibly special event and one of our highlights of the year. Seeing so many families and supporters coming together alongside new people discovering the magic of the event for the first time, makes for a truly beautiful day.”
There’s a 3km route or a 5km route that you can walk, run, jog or wheel your way round. Whatever your age or fitness level, as long as you enjoy getting colourful, then the Colour Run is for you! We’ll also have great music, entertainment and food, so you can really make a day of it!”
“As a charity, we rely on the money raised at events like the Colour Run to help us provide the vital care and support that children, young people and families like Hollie’s rely on. That’s why we encourage all our colour runners to raise at least £25 each. Those that do will get a fun pin badge as a reward for their efforts!”
The Colour Run is sponsored by Charlesworth Family Group and every penny raised by the colour runners will help fund the support Forget Me Not provides to local children with life-shortening conditions, their families and families living with the loss of their child.
Registration for the Colour Run begins at 11 am, with a dance warm up at 1.10pm and the run itself beginning at 1.30pm
Tickets are on sale now here www.forgetmenotchild.co.uk/colourrun and include a Colour Run 2026 t-shirt. Participants will also receive a special medal on the day.
