Event to recognise contributions of local community groups

Leeds City Council and Voluntary Action Leeds are organising a civic event to acknowledge the work of small charities and community groups in the city. The Lord Mayor’s Civic Celebration for Small Charities and Community Groups will take place on 25 June 2026 at the Civic Hall, Calverley Street, Leeds.

The event aims to thank small groups and charities that have made a positive impact on the lives of Leeds residents. It provides an opportunity for these organisations to receive formal recognition from the Lord Mayor, including a certificate and a photograph with the Lord Mayor.

Opportunities for attendees

Attending groups will also receive a commemorative leaflet listing all participating organisations. The event will offer information on advice, training, funding, and other support available to help groups operate effectively. Attendees can sign up for newsletters and email alerts about training, funding, and events, and learn more about the Doing Good Leeds website and its resources.

Additionally, the event will provide information about local networks and forums that groups can join, helping them stay informed and engaged with developments in Leeds.

Booking and eligibility

Places are limited to four representatives per small group or charity. Booking is essential and must be completed by 11 June 2026. To register, organisations must confirm that they have an annual income of less than £25,000 and provide support to communities in Leeds.

Registration requires the following details:

Name of the organisation
Names of attendees
A brief description of the group’s activities (up to 50 words)

Examples of descriptions might include statements such as: “Our luncheon club supports older people in Leeds by providing a weekly luncheon and social events at the community centre. We are run by volunteers and welcome everyone in our neighbourhood to come and get involved.”
