Guiseley AFC Announces 2025/26 Season Award Winners

End of Season Dinner Celebrates Players and Volunteers

Guiseley AFC held its End of Season Dinner on Friday 8 May at Otley Golf Club, where awards were presented to players, volunteers, and staff from the First Team. The event brought together players and supporters for an evening of recognition and reflection on the 2025/26 season.

Awards Presented at the Dinner

The evening began with a speech from Sue Clapham, who thanked attendees and highlighted the positive aspects of the season. Joe Priestley, vice-chair of the Guiseley AFC Supporters’ Club, presented the Supporters’ Club Craig Shearstone Player of the Season award to Ollie Brown.

The Freda Collinson Rose Bowl, recognising Volunteer of the Year, was awarded to Zoe Dickinson. Zoe has contributed in various roles to ensure matchdays at Nethermoor run smoothly. The award was presented by Freda Collinson’s son, Guy, with Sue Clapham sharing memories of Freda’s involvement with the club.

In the media department, Colin Robertson, Media Team Manager, presented Dave Robertson with the Media Team Peace Prize. David Bridson was named Media Team Member of the Season for his extensive coverage of the team, including match reports, commentary, and contributions to the Matchday Magazine.

Chairman Gary Douglas expressed gratitude to Sue Clapham for organising the dinner and acknowledged the volunteers’ efforts throughout the season. He also paid tribute to Jeff Hollings, a devoted club supporter who passed away in December 2025.

Player Awards and Honours

• Sponsors’ Player of the Season was jointly awarded to Jordan Thewlis and Amir Berchil. Amir accepted the award on behalf of Jordan, who was unable to attend.
• The John Bridson Lions Legend Award was presented to Sue Clapham in recognition of over 50 years of volunteering at the club, including roles in hospitality, fundraising, and committee work.
• Jordan Thewlis received both the Players’ Player of the Season and Manager’s Player of the Season awards, with Ian Richards presenting and highlighting Jordan’s contributions during the season.
• The Young Player of the Season Award, the Michael Schofield Shield, was awarded to Ollie Brown.

Life Memberships and Fundraising

Club director Mark Lewis presented Life Memberships to Sue Clapham, Ken Hardwick, and Rachel O’Connor, recognising their combined volunteering service of over 100 years at Guiseley AFC. Each recipient was given a gift and flowers.

The evening concluded with a raffle and auction, raising over £800 for the Football Club and Supporters’ Club.
