Experienced Forward Joins Nethermoor Side Ahead of New Season

Guiseley AFC have confirmed the signing of forward Jay Rollins, who joins the club after four seasons with Worksop Town. The 32-year-old brings a wealth of experience from his time in both the Northern Premier League and National League levels.

Playing Career and Background

Rollins began his football career with Askern Villa and Armthorpe Welfare before moving to Boston United, where he spent seven seasons and made over 150 appearances. During his time at Boston, he was appointed club captain for the 2019/20 season. That campaign saw Boston finish third in their first season at their new stadium, narrowly missing out on promotion after a 1-0 defeat in the play-off final to Altrincham.

While at Boston United, Rollins also participated in the Emirates FA Cup, featuring in the second round against Rochdale.

Recent Career and Achievements

After leaving Boston, Rollins signed for Worksop Town, where he contributed to the club’s promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division, accumulating 99 points in that campaign. Worksop also reached the play-offs the following season but were eliminated in the semi-finals by Macclesfield.

Worksop secured a second promotion within three seasons after winning a final against Guiseley, following the disqualification of Stockton Town for fielding an ineligible player. Rollins also scored in the FA Cup first round against Stockport County and was part of the Worksop squad that won the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup for three consecutive seasons.

Guiseley Manager’s Comments

Guiseley manager Ian Richards commented on the new signing, noting Rollins’ pace, quality, and ability to deliver from wide positions. He also highlighted Rollins’ recovery from an injury setback and his sharp performances in the latter part of the previous season.
