Following a successful run in April 2024, the one-woman play “The Beauty of Being Herd” is touring Yorkshire again in September 2024.

This unique theatrical experience, starring Leeds-born Ruth Berkoff, combines original music, comedy, and poignant storytelling.

At the heart of this show is Hannah, a character who has lived her life trying to fit into societal norms without truly understanding them. Her journey through optimism, the need to belong, and the challenges of conformity offers audiences a blend of laughter, whimsy, and deep emotional moments. It’s a performance that resonates with anyone who has ever felt out of place or on the fringes of society.

Ruth Berkoff, who is also the writer of the show, brings her extensive background in contemporary circus training, theatre, and clowning to the stage. Her portrayal of Hannah has been praised for its warmth and empathy, capturing the hearts of audiences. Berkoff’s performance is supported by director Georgia Murphy and sound designer Isolde Freeth-Hale, whose innovative “sheep synth” adds a unique musical layer to the production.

Critics have lauded “The Beauty of Being Herd” for its entertaining and heartfelt nature. The Bradfordian called it “Undoubtedly Joyous And Uplifting” and The British Theatre Guide described it as “hugely entertaining,” while Fairypowered Productions celebrated its “bizarre, bonkers, and beautiful” qualities with a five-star review.
