Black Women and Girls Invited to Shape National Survey
October 23, 2026New survey aims to capture experiences and ambitions of Black women and girls across Britain
A national survey inviting Black women and girls in Britain to share their experiences, ambitions, and priorities is set to launch this Black History Month. The initiative, called The National Survey of Black Women & Girls in Britain, is organised by Soul Purpose 360, a women’s empowerment organisation.
Survey details and participation
The survey will open on Monday 26 October 2026 and will be available to Black women aged 18 and over, as well as girls aged 16 and 17, living anywhere in Britain. Participants can sign up in advance to receive the survey link when it becomes available. The survey will remain open until 31 January 2027.
Soul Purpose 360 aims to gather responses from at least 2,000 participants, with an aspirational target of 5,000. The data collected will be used to inform a proposed National Commission on the lives of Black women and girls in Britain. In addition, the findings will contribute to a national conference and a published book.
Purpose and significance
The survey seeks to address the issue that decisions affecting Black women and girls are often made using data not designed with their input. By collecting information directly from Black women and girls, the project aims to build an evidence base created by and for the community it represents.
Palma Black, Founder and CEO of Soul Purpose 360, stated: “For too long, Black women and girls have been described, measured and labelled by everyone except ourselves. #DefinitionRedefined changes that. We’re asking women and girls in every corner of Britain to tell us who they are, what they need and what they dream of. Their voices will shape a National Commission that leaders cannot ignore. This is our definition, and we’re writing it together.”
