Call for Women to Join Online Objectification Survey
February 2, 2026Local researchers seek participants for study on social media experiences
Women aged 16 and over who use social media are invited to take part in an online study examining reactions to sexual objectification on social media platforms. The research aims to better understand public opinions and responses to this issue without exposing participants to any explicit content.
Details of the study
- Eligibility: Women aged 16 or older who use social media
- Duration: Approximately 15 minutes
- Incentive: The first 150 participants will receive a £5 Amazon voucher
- Deadline: Responses are requested by 13 February 2026
Participants will be asked to answer questions about their opinions and reactions to online sexual objectification, but no such content will be shown during the study.
Research team and ethics approval
The study is led by researchers at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, including Margot Lefevre (Research Assistant) and Dr Magdalena Zawisza, in collaboration with Dr Dawn Woolly from Leeds Arts University, and Professors Sally Dibb and Dr Katie Thompson from Manchester Metropolitan University. The project is sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
Ethical approval has been granted by the School of Psychology and Sport Science Research Ethics Panel and ratified by the Faculty Research Ethics Panel at Anglia Ruskin University, in accordance with the university’s Research Ethics Policy and Code of Practice.
