Leeds Hospitals Charity is governed by a Board of Trustees, who hold legal responsibility for the charity’s governance and strategic direction. The Trustees also serve as directors of the charity’s limited company, in accordance with company law.
The Board is accountable for the charity’s overall operations, including setting its vision, values, strategy, and policies. It also monitors progress against these objectives to ensure the charity remains financially sustainable. A key responsibility of the Board is to appoint, advise, and support the Chief Executive, who leads the staff in working towards the charity’s goals.
Composition and Appointment of Trustees
The Board consists of twelve Trustees. Each Trustee is appointed for an initial term of three years, with the possibility of serving a maximum of nine years. This term limit is designed to allow for regular inclusion of new perspectives, skills, and experience on the Board.
