Grants Available for Leeds Cultural and Community Groups

Funding scheme supports creative outdoor activities across the city

Leeds cultural organisations and community groups have the opportunity to apply for grants ranging from £250 to £1,500 through the Explore & Experience Grant Scheme. This funding is designed to support creative activities that connect people with nature and culture in outdoor settings across Leeds.

Details of the grant scheme

The Explore & Experience Grant Scheme is part of the Seasons of Culture programme, funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Council. The scheme aims to encourage cultural and voluntary groups to engage with creative activities in Leeds’ blue and green spaces, such as parks, riversides, canals, woodlands, and nature reserves.

Applications for the grant must be submitted by 12 noon on Thursday 27 August 2026.

Eligible activities and themes

Funding can be used to support a variety of activities and trips that promote creativity and outdoor engagement. The scheme highlights the following themes:

• Nature and biodiversity
• Sustainability
• Climate resilience
• Arts and cultural experiences in outdoor spaces

Examples of supported activities include:

• Nature-themed performances
• Outdoor exhibitions
• Participatory creative events

Who can apply?

• Cultural and creative organisations registered in Leeds
• Individuals living in Leeds who lead community or voluntary groups registered in the city

The scheme particularly encourages applications that reflect the diverse cultural landscape of Leeds. Projects involving people with protected characteristics and those from the city’s most disadvantaged areas are especially welcomed.
