Leeds City College Students Reach National Hair and Beauty Finals

Local students excel in regional hairdressing and beauty competition

Students from Leeds City College have advanced to the national finals of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Competition after strong performances in the North West regional heats held in Blackpool on 24 February. The competition tests practical skills and knowledge in hairdressing, beauty therapy, and media makeup across a variety of categories.

Competition categories and results

The AHT Competition includes diverse categories such as body painting, makeup, and hairstyling. Leeds City College’s Media Makeup students secured three first-place awards in the Create an Image and Fashion Magazine Front Cover categories. Meanwhile, the Hairdressing students achieved first place in the Trending Bridal category, which featured 60 entries, and fourth place in the Classic Bridal category, with 93 entries.

Progression to national finals

All students who participated in the regional heats have now qualified for the National Finals scheduled for May. Their success at the regional stage highlights the practical expertise and creativity of the college’s learners in these competitive fields.
