Leeds Fund Opens for Community Group Applications

New grants available to support smaller local organisations

The Leeds Fund has opened its application process, offering financial support to smaller and emerging community organisations based in Leeds. The fund aims to assist groups that might not qualify for larger grant programmes, providing funding to help them support their local communities.

Grant categories and eligibility

The Leeds Fund offers two types of grants: Small Grants and Microgrants. Both categories are designed to support a variety of activities, including organisational development, one-off projects, and initiatives that strengthen groups and their communities.

Small Grants

• Available to organisations with an income between £75,000 and £150,000 in their most recent financial year
• Grants of up to £5,000 available
• Funding can be used for activities such as staff and volunteer training, policy development, employability programmes, marketing consultations, and testing new activities
• Priority is given to applications that develop organisational resilience
• At least 20% of funds are reserved for applications benefiting under-represented groups, including LGBTQIA+, racially minoritised, d/Deaf or disabled people
• Only one application per organisation per round is permitted
• Activity must be based in Leeds, and applicants must have a demonstrable connection to Leeds communities

Microgrants

• Available to organisations with an income under £75,000 in their most recent financial year
• Grants of up to £2,500 for formally constituted organisations, and up to £500 for informal, unconstituted groups
• Priority for funding is given to organisations established within the last five years
• Funding can support similar activities as Small Grants, including organisational development and community-focused projects
• At least 20% of funds are reserved for applications benefiting under-represented groups, including LGBTQIA+, racially minoritised, d/Deaf or disabled people
• Only one application per organisation per round is permitted
• Activity must be based in Leeds, and applicants must have a demonstrable connection to Leeds communities

Application details

• Deadline for applications: 20 October 2026 at 12 noon
• Decisions will be announced in February 2027
• Grants support activities lasting up to one year

Applicants are encouraged to consider how their proposed activities will support and empower their communities, with flexibility in the types of projects funded. The fund focuses on projects that address issues such as health and wellbeing, community safety, skill development, and providing new experiences.
