Local groups invited to join online session on fundraising

A Leeds Funding Support Network meeting is set to take place online on Tuesday 1 September 2026, from 1.00pm to 2.15pm. The event is aimed at individuals involved in fundraising for charities, community groups, and other not-for-profit organisations in Leeds.

The meeting welcomes management committee members, volunteers, and paid workers who are engaged in fundraising activities. It offers an opportunity to learn more about funding and fundraising, as well as to share experiences, tips, and challenges related to securing funding.

Focus on evidencing need in funding bids

The theme for this session will be “evidencing the need for your project/activity in funding bids.” This topic is particularly relevant for small groups new to fundraising, as well as those looking to develop their knowledge and skills. More experienced fundraisers are also encouraged to participate and share their insights.

Speakers and topics

  • Ed Montague from Yorkshire Sport Foundation will discuss support available from the foundation, including guidance on applying to The Movement Fund and Sport England funding projects aimed at increasing physical activity.
  • Ronnie Miley, a VAL Project Worker, will speak about the Local Community Anchor Network (LCAN) listening exercise.

Joining the meeting

The meeting will be held via Zoom. Those interested in attending are asked to email kaye.wilson@val.org.uk to receive the link to join the session.

This event provides a platform for local groups to enhance their fundraising capabilities and connect with others facing similar challenges in the sector.
