Leeds Hospitals Charity Funding Process Explained
June 19, 2026How the Charity Supports Hospital Staff and Research
Leeds Hospitals Charity has outlined the structure and priorities of its funding team in a recent update. The team manages applications for funding across several key areas, aiming to support staff and projects within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and affiliated university.
Funding Priorities and Application Process
Applications for funding can be submitted by staff working across all eight hospitals within the trust. The Charity accepts applications in six main priority areas:
- Research & Innovation
- Health & Wellbeing
- Education
- Environment
- Equipment
- Specialist Staff
Once applications are received, the funding team works closely with hospital and university staff to prepare submissions for review. The review process depends on the size of the funding request:
- Requests up to £10,000 are reviewed by the Small Grants Panel.
- Requests over £10,001 are considered by Trustees via the Funding Committee and the Research & Innovation Committee.
Grant Management and Impact
The funding team is responsible for managing the entire grant cycle. This includes promoting funding opportunities, processing applications, and monitoring the impact of funded projects. The team aims to ensure that funding is allocated effectively to areas where it can have the greatest benefit.
While the Charity strives to support as many funding requests as possible, it recognises the importance of prioritising projects that can deliver significant impact within the hospital and research community.
