New two-floor store aims to serve the local community

Leeds Hospitals Charity has expanded its presence in the region with the opening of its largest charity shop to date on Ilkley High Street. The new store, which opened on Tuesday 25 November, is located on The Grove, adjacent to Betty’s Tearoom, and will operate seven days a week.

Expansion of charity shops in the region

This latest opening brings the total number of Leeds Hospitals Charity shops in the area to five, following the launch of additional stores in Horsforth and Guiseley earlier in the year. The Ilkley shop features a modern design spread over two floors, offering a diverse range of items including pre-loved fashion, homeware, bric-a-brac, and other goods.

Community hub within the shop

In addition to retail space, the shop incorporates a community hub designed to provide a welcoming environment for visitors. This area includes comfortable seating and a coffee machine, allowing customers to take a break, enjoy a hot drink, and engage in conversation with staff, volunteers, or companions.

Recognition and community spirit

Inside the shop, a ‘hero wall’ displays photographs that reflect the charity’s ethos of ‘Together, we can.’ This feature acknowledges the contributions of staff, volunteers, and supporters involved with the charity.

Volunteer and staff involvement

  • The shop is staffed by dedicated volunteers and employees who support its daily operations.
  • Its location and opening hours aim to make it accessible to a wide range of customers throughout the week.

The new Ilkley store represents a significant step in Leeds Hospitals Charity’s efforts to raise funds and engage with the local community through retail and social spaces.
