Annual event at Lineham Farm attracts over 320 visitors

Last weekend, Leeds Childrens Charity hosted its annual Pumpkin Festival at Lineham Farm, welcoming more than 320 children and families. The event, extended to run over a full weekend for the first time, featured a variety of autumn and Halloween-themed activities and successfully raised funds to support local children in need.

Activities and atmosphere

The festival offered a range of activities including:

  • A woodland trail with a spooky theme
  • Marshmallow toasting
  • Pumpkin picking
  • Storytelling sessions
  • Craft workshops
  • Face painting
  • Tombolas and stalls
  • Food and drink options

Throughout the weekend, the farm was filled with families enjoying the Halloween atmosphere, many dressed in fancy dress, contributing to a lively and engaging environment.

Fundraising outcome

The event raised approximately £3,100 through ticket sales, on-site activities, and purchases made at food and stall vendors. These funds are earmarked to support around 25 overnight stays at Lineham Farm for children facing poverty, trauma, and disadvantage. The overnight stays provide a safe environment where children can play, explore, and build confidence.

Community involvement

The success of the Pumpkin Festival was supported by numerous volunteers who helped with various tasks such as decorating, face painting, running stalls, and maintaining the pumpkin patch. Donations of pumpkins, prizes, and other items also contributed to the event’s success. The charity expressed gratitude towards all families who participated and helped with fundraising efforts, as well as the staff who organised and ran the event.

Looking ahead

Plans are already underway for the 2026 Pumpkin Festival. Meanwhile, the charity has announced its next public event, the Christmas Giving Event, scheduled for Sunday 7 December at Lineham Farm.
