June 4, 2026Local residents invited to join 400-lap challenge at Yeadon Tarn
The Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre is celebrating two decades of operation at Yeadon Tarn by inviting the public to take part in a special event as part of the city’s 400th anniversary celebrations. On Saturday, June 6, the centre will host an open day where participants can help complete 400 laps of the tarn, marking both the centre’s 20th anniversary and the Leeds 400 commemorations.
What’s Your 400? campaign
The event is linked to the What’s Your 400? campaign, a city-wide initiative encouraging residents to create activities themed around the number 400. This campaign forms part of Leeds 400, which marks 400 years since Leeds was granted its first City Charter by King Charles I in 1626.
Activities for the challenge include sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and walking laps around the tarn. Qualified instructors will be available to assist those wishing to try water activities safely. The event will run from 9am to 1pm, with all laps counted towards the total goal.
