Students urged to contribute views in five-year strategy survey

Leeds University Union (LUU) has launched a survey inviting students to help shape the Union’s priorities and activities for the next five years. The survey aims to gather student feedback to guide the organisation’s strategy, ensuring it reflects the needs and interests of the student body at Leeds University.

Role of Leeds University Union

LUU functions as a central hub for student life, offering a wide range of clubs and societies, advice and wellbeing services, and campus events. The Union employs hundreds of staff and supports over 350 clubs and societies, engaging thousands of students in its activities.

Student Executive Committee

The Student Executive Committee, elected annually by students, plays a key role in representing student voices and making decisions that affect the Union’s direction. This group works to ensure that student concerns and ideas are central to LUU’s work.

Strategy Survey and Student Impact

Every five years, LUU reviews its strategic plan to set its vision, goals, and priorities. The current survey is a critical part of this process, inviting students to provide input on potential initiatives and improvements. Feedback collected will influence areas such as wellbeing support, social spaces, and representation of diverse student groups.

Previous student feedback has led to tangible changes, including the creation of Essentials, a basic needs hub offering free essential goods and services to support students facing financial challenges.

Encouraging Participation

Students who complete the survey have the opportunity to enter prize draws, with rewards including technology items, music subscriptions, dining vouchers, and event tickets. The Union emphasises that student involvement is crucial to shaping a responsive and inclusive student environment.

Students interested in contributing to the future direction of Leeds University Union can access the survey online and are encouraged to participate to ensure their views are heard.
