Local Charity Supports New Mothers with Essential Baby Items
October 1, 2026Baby Basics Leeds provides practical help for families in need
Baby Basics Leeds, a local branch of a national charity, offers support to new mothers and families facing financial and practical challenges in caring for a newborn. The organisation supplies expectant mothers with essential items to help ease the burden of preparing for a new baby.
What Baby Basics Leeds provides
The charity offers a moses basket filled with essential items for newborns. These include:
- Toiletries for both mother and baby
- Breast pads and maternity pads
- Clothing for the baby
- Bedding
- A small supply of nappies
In addition to the moses basket bundle, Baby Basics Leeds can provide baby baths and clothing bundles for older infants in age groups of 3-6 months, 6-9 months, and 9-12 months.
The charity has also introduced a hospital bag designed to help expectant mothers prepare for delivery. This bag contains essentials such as a maternity nightie, nursing bra, toiletries, and a small selection of baby items. It is intended to complement, not replace, the moses basket bundle.
Referral and collection process
Health and social care professionals, as well as charity workers, can refer families to Baby Basics Leeds by submitting an updated referral form via email to babybasicsleeds@gmail.com. The charity does not engage directly with families, so referring professionals or their team members must arrange to collect the items themselves.
Currently, Baby Basics Leeds operates from St. Paul’s Church in Ireland Wood, Leeds (LS16 6BS), with collections taking place at North Church on Kirkstall Road. The charity plans to move to a new location in the coming months. Referrers will be notified by email when items are ready for collection.
