Local Walkers Raise Funds for Leeds Children’s Charity
August 7, 2026Two supporters complete Great Leeds Walk to aid disadvantaged children
Danny Carling and Marc Shaw have completed the Great Leeds Walk for the second consecutive year, covering 26 miles to raise funds for Leeds Children’s Charity. Their efforts contribute to supporting children in Leeds who face challenging circumstances by enabling them to access residential breaks and outdoor activities at the charity’s Lineham Farm facility.
Fundraising efforts and motivations
Danny Carling first became involved with Leeds Children’s Charity through organising a workplace raffle, which led him to appreciate the charity’s work. He highlighted the importance of providing children with opportunities to enjoy childhood experiences away from daily pressures, something not all families can afford.
Over the past two years, Danny and Marc have raised more than £2,400 for the charity. Their ongoing commitment includes plans to continue fundraising in the future.
Experiences and impact
Both supporters emphasise that their fundraising is about giving children the chance to enjoy activities and breaks that many take for granted. They have developed a relationship with the charity’s staff, which has helped them see the direct impact of their contributions.
Completing the 26-mile walk is a significant physical challenge, which has become harder with age, but their determination remains strong. The money raised supports children to build confidence, enjoy new experiences, and create positive memories.
