Leeds to host large-scale event connecting jobseekers with employers

Leeds will be the venue for a significant careers and training fair next month, bringing together a broad range of employers, training providers and support organisations. The event aims to provide a comprehensive overview of career opportunities and skills development across the city’s key sectors.

Event Overview

The fair, titled Careers in Leeds, will combine three previously separate events: the Leeds Digital Careers Fair, Leeds Creative Skills Festival, and SEND Next Choice Event. This new format is designed to offer a single, city-wide showcase of employment and training options, simplifying access for visitors.

The event will take place at the first direct bank arena from 12pm to 6pm and is free to attend. It will feature over 100 employers, training providers, and support organisations from the region.

Sector Zones and Participants

Exhibitors will be organised into dedicated zones representing a variety of sectors, including:

  • Construction, manufacturing and engineering
  • Health and social care
  • Digital and technology
  • Business and finance
  • Hospitality and retail
  • Education and public services
  • Creative industries

Among the participants are the event’s sponsor, Bank of England, as well as Burberry, Leeds Manufacturing Festival, Leeds Hotels and Venues Association, and many others. Exhibitors will present live vacancies, apprenticeships, training opportunities, and career pathways.

Additional Features

  • Workshops on skills presentation and application processes
  • Speaker sessions, including a panel on how sports can influence careers featuring Jamie Jones-Buchanan
  • A talk by the Bank of England on careers in central banking
  • A dedicated support zone for people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • A quieter hour from 12pm to 1pm to ensure accessibility for all visitors

Statements from Leeds City Council

Councillor Salma Arif, deputy leader and executive member for economy at Leeds City Council, said the event will provide an inclusive platform for a wide range of people, including job seekers, career returners, career changers, graduates, and students. She highlighted the opportunity for attendees to meet employers and training providers and to explore the variety of opportunities available in the region.
