February 26, 2026Experienced Education Leader to Oversee Partnerships and Adult Education
Leeds College of Building (LCB) has appointed Carly Sidebottom as its new Assistant Principal for Partnerships and Adults. The role, newly created to support the college’s ongoing development, will see Ms Sidebottom focus on strengthening employer relationships and expanding adult education provision.
Professional Background
Ms Sidebottom joins LCB from Total Training Provision, where she was Director of Business Strategy and Compliance. Before that, she held the position of Head of Adult Skills at Ixion Training, part of the Shaw Trust group. Her experience in education and training spans various leadership roles, particularly in adult skills development.
Responsibilities and College Growth
The appointment comes at a time of significant expansion for LCB. The college has recently invested in its estate, including acquiring and renovating a large building adjacent to its North Street Campus. This expansion is expected to increase the college’s facilities by approximately one-third, allowing for more training places.
LCB offers a broad curriculum that includes higher education courses, apprenticeships, and study programmes, with a focus on construction and the built environment. The college was designated a Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC) in 2023, one of only ten in England, highlighting its role in delivering high-quality construction training in the region.
Sector Involvement
In addition to her new role, Ms Sidebottom serves on several education and employment boards. These include:
- Trustee at SAMEE Charity
- Board Director at the Institute of Employability Professionals (IEP)
- Governor at TEC Partnership
Statements from Leadership
Ms Sidebottom said she was pleased to join LCB, citing the college’s reputation and its central role in the construction sector in West Yorkshire. She expressed her intention to build on the college’s recent successes and to contribute to addressing regional skills shortages through enhanced adult education.
Rob Holmes, Vice Principal for Quality, Curriculum and Innovation at LCB, welcomed Ms Sidebottom’s appointment. He noted her extensive experience and understanding of regional adult skills priorities as key assets for the college’s future development.
Looking Ahead
LCB’s expansion plans and strategic focus on partnerships and adult provision aim to support the construction industry’s workforce needs. The college continues to attract learners into construction careers and strengthen its collaboration with employers across the region.
