February 3, 2026Leeds City College helps launch innovative tool for health and care workforce
Leeds City College’s Printworks Campus recently hosted the launch of Your Health, Your Career, a new digital platform aimed at supporting current and prospective members of the health and care workforce across West Yorkshire. The event brought together key organisations involved in the platform’s development, including Career Compass, Leeds Health and Care Academy, Leeds City Council, and Leeds City College.
Purpose of the Platform
Your Health, Your Career is designed to assist individuals considering a career change or entry into the health and care sector. It particularly targets those living with mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, musculoskeletal conditions including chronic pain or mobility issues, and neurodivergence such as autism or ADHD.
The platform supports a variety of career transitions, including:
- Changing roles or employers within the sector
- Retraining for new positions
- Relocating for work
- Entering the workforce for the first time
- Returning to employment following ill health or unemployment
Features and User Engagement
The platform offers clear information on available health and care roles, including detailed role-specific videos. It also showcases over 200 live job opportunities and provides personalised career recommendations to users.
Since its launch, the platform has attracted more than 1,700 users, with the majority aged between 16 and 19. Many of these users are current college students.
Leeds City College’s Role
Leeds City College played a significant role in the early development of Your Health, Your Career. Students at the college engaged in early demonstrations of the platform and provided feedback that contributed to its refinement.
At the launch event, Genevieve Martin, Teaching and Learning Development Manager for Health Science and Social Care at Leeds City College, presented on how learners have utilised the platform during sessions led by the Careers Compass team. During these sessions, students explored various job roles, completed assessments, and reflected on their results to support their career progression.
Feedback from learners was shared with Career Compass to help inform ongoing improvements to the platform.
