New Online Scheme Offers Unrestricted Funding for Local Groups
November 19, 2025Local organisations can now raise funds through everyday online shopping
Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) has announced a new initiative designed to help local groups, organisations, and projects raise additional funds. The scheme operates through a partnership with easyfundraising, a platform that enables supporters to generate donations for their chosen causes simply by shopping online.
How the scheme works
Easyfundraising partners with over 8,000 retailers, including well-known names such as eBay, John Lewis, Tesco, and Trainline. When supporters begin their online shopping journeys via the easyfundraising website or app, the retailer makes a small donation to the registered group or project as a gesture of thanks. Importantly, this does not incur any extra cost to the shopper, as the donation is covered by the retailer.
Steps to participate
- Register your group or organisation with easyfundraising through their website.
- Create a fundraising page, which can be set up in just a few minutes.
- Share the fundraising page with your community, volunteers, and supporters to encourage them to shop via easyfundraising.
- Receive donations as supporters shop online, providing a sustainable source of funding throughout the year.
This initiative offers a straightforward way for local organisations to access unrestricted funding, which can be used flexibly to support their activities. With the current increase in online shopping, particularly around the Christmas period, registering early could help maximise the potential donations received.
