Voluntary Action Leeds and University of Leeds introduce seminars on holistic support

Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL), in collaboration with the Lifelong Learning Centre at the University of Leeds, has announced a new series of training seminars aimed at practitioners working with people experiencing poverty and social exclusion.

Details of the seminar series

The training consists of three one-hour seminars, each focusing on a holistic practice approach to supporting excluded groups. The sessions are structured around the themes “Think”, “Feel”, and “Do”, encouraging participants to engage with the material in a comprehensive way.

  • Session 1: THINK – Introduction to a holistic practice approach to supporting excluded groups.
  • Session 2: FEEL – Building on the first session, focusing on emotional engagement in support work.
  • Session 3: DO – Practical application of the holistic approach in supporting excluded groups.

Each seminar can be attended independently; however, attendees are encouraged to participate in all three sessions as each builds upon the previous one.

Course delivery and fees

The seminars are led by a specialist in family support and child protection from the Lifelong Learning Centre at the University of Leeds. They are offered on a “Pay as You Feel” basis, allowing participants to contribute what they consider appropriate.

How to participate

Those interested in attending can access the sessions via provided links on the VAL website. For further information, enquiries can be directed to training@val.org.uk.

These courses aim to enhance the skills of practitioners supporting vulnerable populations in Leeds, providing them with practical tools and knowledge to improve their work.
