Local business to undertake 1,500-mile Pyrenees charity drive

An independent used car dealership from Pudsey, First4car, has confirmed its participation in the 2026 Bangers4Ben challenge. This event involves a demanding 1,500-mile journey over five days, starting on Friday 2 October 2026. The route will take drivers from the Portsmouth ferry terminal through notable motorsport locations such as Le Mans and Bordeaux, before ascending the Pyrenees mountains.

Challenge details and vehicle restrictions

The challenge requires participants to use a vehicle costing no more than £750, adding to the difficulty of the long-distance drive. This will be the third consecutive year that First4car has taken part in the event.

Purpose and charitable cause

The Bangers4Ben challenge raises funds for Ben, an occupational charity that supports mental health, physical health, and financial wellbeing for workers and families within the automotive industry. First4car has raised over £2,500 for the charity to date.

Community involvement and fundraising

  • Members of the public and local businesses can follow the team’s progress via social media updates and live breakdown logs.
  • Donations can be made through First4car’s fundraising page: https://giving.ben.org.uk/pf/first4car-com.
  • After the event, the vehicle used in the challenge will be auctioned, with all proceeds donated directly to Ben.

Statements from First4car

Sally Leeming of First4car commented on the event, emphasising the importance of supporting the motor trade’s own charity and the unpredictable nature of the challenge. She also encouraged the local community in West Leeds to support the team.

This annual event highlights the commitment of automotive businesses to charitable causes, combining endurance motoring with fundraising efforts.
