Support across hospital wards and outpatient clinics
Frin Lewis-Smith’s role involves offering spiritual care to patients both on hospital wards and in outpatient settings, including clinics and treatment areas. This flexible approach allows support to be delivered in various locations such as clinical spaces, counselling rooms, or over the phone.
Scope and impact of the chaplaincy service
- More than 700 instances of spiritual care have been provided.
- 195 individual patients have received support during their treatment and care.
- Support has addressed issues including treatment challenges, uncertainty, questions about meaning, mortality, and hope.
- Spiritual support has been offered to over half of the patients referred to the service.
The chaplaincy service aims to assist patients facing some of the most difficult moments of their lives by addressing their emotional and spiritual needs alongside their clinical care.
