New initiative offers tailored support for 18-25 year olds

A new support programme called Empower Hour is available for young people aged 18 to 25 within the LGBTQIA+ community in Leeds. The initiative provides individual sessions with experienced support workers to address a range of topics relevant to this group.

Details of the Empower Hour programme

Empower Hour offers between eight and ten tailored sessions focusing on areas such as:

  • Emotional well-being and mental health
  • Confidence and self-esteem building
  • Budgeting skills
  • Exploration of sexual and gender identity
  • Advocacy
  • Access to education, training, employment, and volunteering opportunities

The sessions are designed to support young people who identify as LGBTQIA+ as well as those who may be questioning their sexual or gender identity.

Alongside Empower Hour, The Alphabet Collective also runs a weekly social and support group for LGBTQIA+ individuals aged 18 to 25. This group meets on Wednesday evenings in Leeds city centre, providing a space for socialising and mutual support.
