New resources aim to support UK charities in using AI technology

A UK-based charity, CAST, has launched a range of free artificial intelligence (AI) courses and guides designed to help charities and social impact organisations across the country enhance their digital capabilities. These resources are intended to assist organisations in becoming more responsive and resilient through the effective use of AI technologies.

About CAST

CAST is a charity focused on supporting organisations in the social sector to integrate digital and AI tools into their operations. Their goal is to enable charities to maximise the benefits of these technologies for social good.

Free AI Courses

CAST offers four self-paced AI courses delivered via weekly emails. Each course provides information, inspiration, and guided activities to help participants gradually build their AI skills and confidence. The courses are:

Getting started with AI – a general introduction suitable for anyone working in a UK charity or social sector organisation.
Supporting your organisation with AI – also aimed at a broad charity audience.
AI for Leaders: Getting started – designed specifically for leaders of small and medium-sized charities.
AI for Leaders: Leading your organisation – targeted at charity leaders looking to implement AI strategically.

Free AI Guides

In addition to the courses, CAST has developed 17 step-by-step AI guides. These guides include template prompts and practical advice to assist charities with common tasks such as drafting funding applications, improving website content, generating service delivery ideas, and creating impact reports. The guides are accessible without registration and can be used with any generative AI tool.

The guides are hosted on CAST’s Worthwhile Chat website and are freely available to all interested parties.
