Guiseley AFC Prepare to Host Hyde United This Easter Weekend
April 2, 2026Local football action returns to Nethermoor as Guiseley face Hyde United
Guiseley AFC will host Hyde United at Nethermoor on Saturday, aiming to secure a third win in four matches and strengthen their position in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division. The match comes at a crucial time for both clubs as they approach the end of the 2025/26 season.
Recent Form and Team News
Guiseley come into the game on the back of a 3-1 victory against Rushall Olympic last weekend. Manager Ian Richards expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, particularly highlighting the third goal which helped ease pressure on the squad. Mo Fadera’s decisive goal was praised for securing the win, while Amir Berchil was described as the best player on the pitch, noted for his decision-making and overall contribution despite yet to add goals to his tally.
Richards also commented on the club’s strong home form, with Guiseley having collected 29 points from 18 home matches, ranking seventh best in the league. The Lions have two home games remaining this season, starting with Hyde United and followed by FC United of Manchester next Saturday. Richards emphasised the importance of winning these matches and attracting large crowds to finish the season positively.
In terms of squad availability, Kyle White is managing a calf problem but played 85 minutes in the last game. George Goodman and Mo Fadera are expected to compete for starting positions, while Will Longbottom and Jamie Spencer remain long-term doubts.
Hyde United’s Struggles
Hyde United have faced difficulties this season, struggling for consistent form after finishing ninth last term. They currently sit just above the relegation zone on goal difference. Their recent 3-0 home victory over Stockton Town marked only their second home win in 11 attempts. Away from home, the Tigers have not won a league match since October, a run extending to 10 matches, with only Prescot and Morpeth having worse away records.
Manager Michael Clegg, appointed in late January to replace Martin Coyne, has won two of his 10 games in charge. Jack Redshaw, the team’s top scorer with eight goals, continues to play a key role. Recent squad changes include the departures of Antoine Makioli and goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin, while Harry Ditchfield has signed a new contract until the end of next season and Scot Duxbury’s loan from Bury has been extended.
Reece Kendall, a full back who previously played for Guiseley during the 2023/24 season, is expected to feature for Hyde after joining from Tadcaster Albion.
Previous Meetings
Guiseley have remained unbeaten against Hyde United in their last five encounters since 2023, with two wins and three draws. The most recent meeting was a 2-0 victory for Guiseley in August at Hyde’s home ground, with goals from Joao Silva and John Lufudu within the first 13 minutes.
