Guiseley AFC to Host Community Give Back Day

Local initiative aims to support vulnerable families this festive season

Guiseley AFC, in collaboration with the Guiseley Community Foundation, is organising a Community Give Back Day on Saturday 6 December 2025. The event will take place at Nethermoor ahead of the club’s Northern Premier League Premier Division match against Leek Town, scheduled for 3:00 pm.

Foodbank and Toy Appeal Collections

The Community Give Back Day will feature collections for the Foundation’s Foodbank Appeal and Toy Appeal, both aimed at assisting vulnerable families in the Aireborough area during the Christmas period. The Foodbank Appeal has been running for over a decade, providing essential food and household items to those in need.

Donations for both appeals can be made at Nethermoor between 12:00 pm and 2:45 pm on the day of the event.

Requested Items for Foodbank Collection

The Foodbank Appeal is seeking a variety of non-perishable food items, toiletries, and pet food. The specific items requested include:

• Breakfast cereals
• Tinned meat, fish, and pies
• Jars of meat or fish paste
• Tinned vegetables and potatoes
• Instant mash and stuffing mixes
• Gravy granules
• Tinned, packet, or cup-a-soup
• Pasta, rice, and cooking sauces
• Tinned or dried beans and pulses
• Flour, bread mixes, dumpling and Yorkshire pudding batter mixes
• Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar
• UHT milk and long-life fruit juice or cordial
• Jam, marmalade, honey, peanut butter, and chocolate spread
• Toiletries including toilet rolls, cleaning products, and feminine hygiene products
• Cat and dog food

Additionally, festive items are requested to help create Christmas hampers. These include Christmas pudding, tinned sponge puddings, long-life cakes, custard, rice pudding, jelly, instant whip, brandy sauce, evaporated milk, tinned fruit, biscuits (both savoury and sweet), dried fruit and nuts, crisps, chocolate, sweets, and selection boxes.

Toy Appeal

The Toy Appeal is collecting new, unwrapped toys suitable for children to receive as presents during the festive season.

Raffle to Support Local Work

A raffle will also be held as part of the Community Give Back Day, with all proceeds directed towards supporting the Foundation’s ongoing work in the local area. Members of the public and local businesses interested in donating prizes for the raffle are encouraged to contact the Foundation via email at alison.leigh@guiseleycommunityfoundation.org.uk.

Community Support

In previous years, the football club and Foundation have received donations worth several hundred pounds in food, toiletries, pet food, and festive treats. These contributions have exceeded expectations and have been vital in supporting families during the holiday season.

The Community Give Back Day represents an opportunity for local residents and supporters of Guiseley AFC to contribute to the welfare of vulnerable members of the community during the forthcoming festive period.
