Guiseley came from behind to secure a three-goal home win on Tuesday night, days before their Emirates FA Cup first-round match against Sutton United.

The National League North side conceded in the 23rd minute at Nethermoor Road, but Kallan Murphy equalised shortly before half-time. Second-half goals from Elliot Owen, captain Lebrun Mbeka and Paul Iggulden completed the 4-1 victory.

The match was played in front of a crowd of 503, according to Guiseley AFC’s report. Cameron Wilson struck the post early in the game, but the home side fell behind when Leek Town scored in the 23rd minute.

Guiseley drew level in the 44th minute, when Murphy scored with a looping header. The teams went into the break at 1-1.

Second-half goals settle the match

Owen put Guiseley ahead in the 66th minute. Mbeka then extended the lead with a goal, before Iggulden scored the fourth. The club’s report noted that three of the goals were scored by centre-backs.

The win followed Guiseley’s draw away to Redcar the previous weekend. Wilson had scored two late goals in that match, according to the club.

Focus turns to the FA Cup

Guiseley are due to host Sutton United in the Emirates FA Cup first round proper on Saturday, 7 November, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm. The tie will follow the midweek league fixture against Leek Town.

The match against Sutton is the next fixture listed by Guiseley. The club’s account said the cup tie would take place at Nethermoor, but did not provide further details about ticketing or broadcast arrangements.
