Guiseley AFC were held to a 2-2 draw by Stockton Town in their Emirates FA Cup first round qualifying match at the MAP Group UK Stadium on Saturday, 5 September 2026. The result means the two sides will meet again for a replay at Nethermoor on Tuesday night.
Guiseley manager Ian Richards made three changes to the starting lineup from the side that secured victory over Emley earlier in the week. Jack Tinker, Paul Iggulden, and Harrison Hopper returned to the team, replacing Kyle White, Lebrun Mbeka, and Amir Berchil, who were absent due to various injuries. The squad also welcomed back Aaron Martin and Lucas Odunston, with Frankie Sinfield making his first appearance of the season.
Match Summary
The Lions started the match positively and created the best chance in the opening 15 minutes. A free kick in a promising position was played short to Jordan Thewlis, who found space near the six-yard box, but Stockton goalkeeper Nathan Harker quickly closed down the opportunity to prevent a goal.
Stockton gradually gained momentum and opened the scoring with a goal from Tom Coulthard. A dipping corner from the right bounced across the goalmouth and Coulthard capitalised, scoring from close range past Guiseley’s goalkeeper Jack Hall.
Guiseley responded swiftly, regaining control of the game. Cam Wilson missed a shot over the bar, but Kallan Murphy’s determined run down the right flank allowed the Lions to switch play to Ollie Brown. Brown’s cross was volleyed home by Harrison Hopper at the far post.
Eight minutes later, Jordan Thewlis broke the offside trap and scored with a powerful shot into the roof of the net, extending Guiseley’s lead despite the challenging pitch conditions.
Second Half Developments
The second half saw Guiseley continue to create chances, particularly down the flanks. Elliot Owen delivered a low cross that went over the bar, and Thewlis headed just wide. However, a lengthy stoppage due to an injury to Stockton’s Layton Watts appeared to affect Guiseley’s momentum.
Stockton pressed forward and tested Guiseley’s defence, which worked hard to contain the home side’s attacks. Guiseley introduced Aaron Martin as a substitute for Thewlis and continued to threaten, with Wilson narrowly missing a shot on goal.
With Guiseley’s captain Ollie Brown receiving treatment for a suspected head injury, Stockton capitalised on a defensive error. A clearance by Adam Lund gifted Stockton a corner, which was delivered by Lewis King. Adam Nicholson’s cross was met by Frank Nouble, who headed home to level the score late in the match.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw after a scrappy finish on an uneven pitch. Guiseley’s Jack Tinker had a late chance saved, but neither side could find a winner.
